Lexigo Goes MobileApril 23th, 2013

Word lovers now have a whole new way to play with their friends. The word game Lexigo is now available as an app for phones and tablets.

Lexigo is a word game created by game publisher Wiggles 3D. It was launched in 2010 in a letter-tile format and sold in game stores. The mobile game application was released earlier this month in both the iTunes and Android app stores. Both versions of the game are free.

The mobile gamekeeps the core features of the original tile game, but takes advantage of the mobile technology to add animations and powerups. The Lexigo app is designed for two-, three- or four-player games. Users can use it with a group in pass-and-play mode or they can try to stump their friends online through Facebook.

Just like in the original, the Lexigo app features six-sided letter tiles that players use to spell words. Players can spell words in twisty paths by moving in six different directions from each tile.As well, players must start each new word with the last letter of the last word they spelled. And there’s no scoring needed. The first player to use up their tiles wins the game.

The mobile game also lets players earn Lexigold as they spell. They can use this money to buy some of the game’s nine powerups. Powerups include Pop, which removes a selected tile from the game grid, and Kick, which lets a playermove an opponent’s pawn anywhere they choose on the letter grid.

The game is rated for ages four and up.

Finger Tips, a matching game for young children, picked up a Best Bet Award this month from the Canadian Toy Testing Council. This is the third honour the
finger-puppet inspired game has scooped up this year.

As an award winner, Finger Tips will be featured in the Canadian Toy Testing Council’s Toy Report 2013. The report is celebrating its 60th year of families evaluating games for families. Each year, the council co-ordinates having a slate of games tested by children in their homes over an 8-week time frame. The toy evaluations reflect the children’s feelings about the toys.

Finger Tips, published by Wiggles 3D, launched in February at New York Toy Fair. It won Dr. Toy’s 100 Best Picks Children’s Products Awards Program for 2012 and a 2012 Family Review Center Gold Award. Finger Tips features hand-shaped cards with colourful finger-puppet characters. Created for children ages three and up, it offers a fun way to learn matching skills, memory skills and hand-eye coordination.

The Testing Council uses a star system to rate all games, with three stars being granted to the best games. Finger Tips not only received a three-star rating, but also made it into the Best Bets category, which lists the children’s top 36 favourite games. Children who tested Finger Tips “especially like[d] the unique card shape and the cute animal pictures…various difficulty levels give these cards play value for multiple ages.” Parents also “appreciate[d] the multi-racial hands” in the deck.

The report also recommends Finger Tips as a birthday gift. The game can be purchased for $9.99 at specialty stores nationwide.

Watch out for flying saucers! An alien-themed dice game published by Wiggles 3D won its first award this month.

Tillywig Toy Awards presented the game Army vs. Aliens with the Sterling Fun Award, which honors “distinctive children’s products notable for their exceptional quality and bold originality.” Army vs. Aliens, released November 2011, is a dice game that features generals and tanks trying to fight off an alien invasion of Earth.

Tillywig Toy Awards’ mission is to provide retail buyers, news media, parents, and consumers with product information and reviews of current children's products. Products are evaluated by a variety of testers in an observed focus-group format. The testing team at Tillywig made special note of the portability of the game, as well as the swift game play, which lets players be “very engaged from start to finish.”

Army vs. Aliens is the first of a series of dice-elimination games planned by Wiggles 3D. The game consists of 18 custom dice—9 for each team—and two dice cups. Players try to capture their opponents dice by rolling powerful combinations.

The dice cups snap together to create a carrying case. Army vs. Aliens is designed for players aged eight and up. Its suggested retail price is $15.99, and it is available at independent retailers in the United States and Canada.

Abuzz with ActivityApril 18th, 2012

London, ON – April 18, 2012 – London game publisher Wiggles 3D continues to expand with the launch of a new, bee-themed game app this week—amid a hive of other activity at this 10-year old business.

The new app, called Paper Bees, is now available on the App Store and through iTunes. This continues the company’s new development thrust into the digital realm. Wiggles 3D released a digital app for the game brand Eye Know, a licensed property, last fall and a scoring app for its Ding! card game earlier this year.

Paper Bees app is a playful action game that presents players with 30 different game levels. Players are asked to help bees defend their flowers and hive against a stream of unwelcome pests, including stink bugs, mosquitoes and exploding beetles. Levels move through a meadow, a swamp and a winter landscape. The game is designed for the iPad and 4th Generation iPhones, with players flinging bees by swiping their fingers across their touchscreens. The bees’ allies show up to give them extra powers, including flames and ice crystals. The game sells for $1.99. It is rated for players age 4 and up and was designed to have a broad appeal with all ages.

The launch of Paper Bees is just part of the current activity at Wiggles 3D. It launched four new games at Toy Fair in New York this past February. The new games are FingerTips, a matching card game and the company’s first game for preschoolers; Randomonium, a word-based party game; Space Checkers, an alien-themed strategy game; and Army vs. Aliens, a fast-paced dice game. The games are being sold internationally.

These product launches follow on the back of a December 2011 transaction with Mattel. Mattel, the world’s largest game company, has purchased Wiggle 3D’s Pass the Popcorn brand. The popular movie game, which is sold in over 6,000 stores internationally, was developed by Wiggles 3D and has been an important part of the product lineup since the fall of 2009. Mattel took over the brand on March 31, 2012.

Wiggles 3D Games is thrilled to announce that one of their newest games, Ding!, has received top ratings in the Canadian Toy Testing Council's Toy Report for 2012.

The report presents ratings of hundreds of new toys that have been released in Canada in 2011. Every game submitted gets tested by children, and ratings are based on their feedback.

The Toy Report uses stars to rate the games. Three stars are granted to the best games, two stars indicate a good game, one star means a game is problematic and no stars indicates that the game is not recommended.

In The Toy Report 2012, Ding! received three stars, which means it was ranked as one of the best games of 2012 for ages 8 and up.

London, ON Canada – February 11, 2011 - Wiggles 3D is delighted to reveal their newest game Ding at the American International Toy Fair in New York City.

Ding is a unique card game that combines the fun of trick-taking and trump card games like Hearts or Spades, with the card strategies of draw Poker and the ultimate game changer – spelling D-i-n-g with the letter cards.

Players move around on the board by competing to win tricks. You take tricks either one by one by having the highest card of the suit lead, playing the highest trump card or by playing a Ding! – a special move that propels you forward while sending your opponents backwards.

Players declare if they are IN or OUT for each hand and in draw poker style are given the chance to draw new cards to try and improve their chances. If you are IN on a round, you need to take at least one trick a hand or you’ll move backwards, further away from the Finish line.

“We are excited to premiere Ding at the New York International Toy Fair,” said Don Reid, president of Wiggles 3D. “It’s a fresh and fun new take on card games for the family and the perfect addition to our portfolio of games.”

Toy Fair 2011 will take place February 13-16, 2011 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Attendees can see Ding and other award-winning games from Wiggles 3D at booth is #6133, game zone.

Ding is a great new game for the whole family and will be carried in major and specialty retailers this spring.  The game is recommended for 3-8 players, aged 8 and over.
